Upload Files to Spark for Instant Analysis

Spark File Uploads lets you bring your own documents into a Spark conversation. Upload a report, a strategy deck, or any supported file — and ask Spark questions about it, just like you would any other topic.

How to Upload a File

  1. Open a Spark chat conversation.
  2. Click the upload button in the chat input bar.
  3. Select a file from your computer. Supported formats and size limits are listed below.
  4. Wait for Spark to finish processing the file.
  5. Once processing is complete, type your question or prompt as normal. Spark will use the file as context for your conversation.

What You Can Ask

Once a file is uploaded, you can ask Spark anything about its contents. For example:

  • "Summarize the key findings in this report."
  • "What are the main recommendations in this document?"
  • "Pull out the three most important points from this deck."
  • "Does this document mention anything about Q3 performance?"

Spark will treat the file as part of the conversation context — so you can reference it naturally in any follow-up messages.

Supported File Types

Documents

.txt, .pdf, .md

Office files

.docx (Word), .pptx (PowerPoint)

Image files

.jpg, .png

Maximum file size: 25MB per file.

Files that are not on the supported list, or that exceed 25MB, will be rejected with an error message. No other file types are supported at this time.

Things to Know

Up to 5 files per conversation - You can upload up to 5 files per chat session. The files becomes part of that conversation's context for the rest of the session.

Files don't carry over to new chats - Uploaded files are scoped to the chat session in which they were uploaded. If you start a new conversation, you'll need to upload the file again.

Files are automatically deleted after 30 days - For your privacy, BlueOcean automatically deletes uploaded files from its systems 30 days after they're uploaded. Your chat thread will remain, but Spark will no longer have access to the file's content after that point. You can manually delete the chat at any time from your chat history.
