Connectors via MCP
Background
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standardized way for Spark to securely connect and communicate with external tools. It allows Spark to access and share data across platforms like Google Drive, Slack, or Microsoft Teams so that your insights, prompts, and outputs can interact directly with the tools your team already uses.
In simple terms, MCP Connectors act as secure bridges between Spark and other applications, enabling two-way data flow. This means Spark can pull in relevant context (like files, notes, or posts) and send results or generated content back out—all without leaving the Spark experience.
Overview
Connectors allow Spark to integrate with your favorite tools so you can easily access and share data across your workspace. By connecting Spark to external platforms like Google Drive, Microsoft Teams, or Slack, you can pull in content, reference documents, and push insights back to where your team works.
Why Use Connectors
- Centralize your data – Access files, notes, and content from multiple tools in one place.
- Save time – Eliminate context switching by letting Spark read from and write to your connected tools.
- Collaborate smarter – Share insights, generate reports, or summarize documents directly within Spark.
Available Connectors
Spark currently supports connections with:
- Google Drive
- Google Sheets
- Google Docs
- Microsoft OneDrive
- Microsoft Teams
- Microsoft OneNote
- Slack
Note: More connectors are added over time as new integrations become available.
How to Connect
- Go to the Tools section in Spark under the prompt input field.
- Find the tool you want to connect (for example, Google Drive).
- Click Connect.
- Follow the authentication flow to sign in and grant access.
- Once connected, you’ll see the status change to Connected.
You can manage your connections anytime by selecting Manage Connectors at the bottom of the list.
Managing and Disconnecting
- To disconnect, open Manage Connectors, select the integration, and click Disconnect.
- To refresh permissions, click Reconnect if your organization updates security policies or tokens expire.
Privacy and Security
- Spark only accesses data you authorize.
- Connections are secured using OAuth 2.0 authentication.
- Your data is never shared outside your account or used for training models.
Common Use Cases
- Pull campaign briefs from Google Docs directly into Spark for analysis.
- Summarize meeting notes from Microsoft Teams or OneNote.
- Post Spark insights or generated summaries directly to Slack or LinkedIn.
Troubleshooting
If you’re having trouble connecting:
- Ensure your organization’s admin allows external integrations.
- Check that your login credentials have the correct permissions.
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting the integration.
